The last survivor of a procession of great plantation houses along the banks of the Atchafalaya River in Pointe Coupee, Avoyelles and St. Landry parishes. White Hall Plantation House  stands proudly in grandeur and stately solemnity overlooking the once not so broad  Atchafalaya River and surrounding Bayou Coteau.

Established in 1849 by Captain Samuel J. Norwood, White Hall Plantation House has witnessed, survived, and outlived a bygone era of Antebellum elegance, grace, and chivalry as well as a turbulent history of war and retreat, levee set-backs, and demolition by neglect leaving her battered but unbowed. Though once weathered, White Hall Plantation House retains her dignity, rejects pity, and demands a second look as a premier landmark of authenticity and permanence.

White Hall Plantation House is located in upper Point Coupee’ Parish at Historic Legonier Landing, just two miles east and  across from the historic west bank town of Simmesport in Avoyelles Parish.  The house is  on highway 418 facing the Atchafalaya River.
